Blade and Spider-Man team up and take on Morbius and Venom in a piece of fan art taking place on the edge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe meets Sony’s Spider-Man Universe as Blade and Spider-Man battle Morbius and Venom in a piece of fan art. Following the release of 2008’s Iron Man, the MCU began to expand with the introduction of Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow—the original Avengers who would assemble in the 2012 film. Then, in 2015, Disney and Marvel Studios made a deal with Sony Pictures to bring Peter Parker/Spider-Man into the MCU, resulting in Tom Holland’s debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.
last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home—which brought back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men (not to mention a handful of villains) into the MCU via the multiverse—is now Sony’s highest-grossing movie of all time. As Holland’s webslinger continues to thrive in the MCU, Sony has attempted to develop its Spider-Man Universe without him focusing on villains turned heroes in Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnageand Morbius. Sony is developing several other spinoffs including Kraven the Hunter, El Muertoand Madame Web. In the wake of Jon Watts’ homecoming trilogy, it remains to be seen if any of those characters will come face-to-face with a webslinger.
Artist Jackson Caspersz recently posted some art to Instagram, which features the ultimate MCU and Sony crossover. The piece sees Holland’s Spider-Man and Mahershala Ali’s Blade square off against Jared Leto’s Morbius and Tom Hardy’s Venom. Check it out below.

It’s long been confirmed that two-time Oscar winner Ali is inheriting the role of Blade from Wesley Snipes. Although his voice from him can be heard in eternals‘ post-credits scene, blade isn’t scheduled to be released until November 3, 2023. That said, the vampire hunter may never have to hunt Dr. Michael Morbius. The Living Vampire’s Film grossed just over $163 million worldwide and was met with brutal reviews from critics, holding a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 17%. After falling victim to an endless array of memes, Sony re-released morbius and it flopped – again.
While Sony may not greenlight a morbius 2, the film did tease his future as a member of the Sinister Six. in morbius‘ problematic credits scenes, Vulture seemingly dropped into Sony’s universe from the MCU. Michael Kea’s character sought out Morbius to help him find kill a Spider-Man (for reasons that aren’t necessarily and clear). Despite being a relatively good guy, Michael Morbius agreed. Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom may have dropped into the MCU for a couple of credits scenes (leaving behind a symbiote at the end of No Way Home). However, it’s unclear whether Sony characters can appear in films produced by Marvel Studios not entitled “Spider-Man.” If Morbius, Venom, and Blade were to ever meet, it’d likely have to be in Holland’s spider man 4, 5or 6. Regardless, there’s no denying it would be a sight to behold in the MCU.
